Singer/Musician/Songwriter Lex Gibson has returned to Scotland after an absence of 31 years’ entertaining on the club and cabaret circuits in England.

Lex started his musical career in the late 50s during the Buddy Holly/Little Richard era and with 2 resident stints at Barrowland, one of which was with a band called ‘The Midnites’ who did the opening night of ‘Geordies Byre’ within the ballroom and later in the 60s with ‘The Chaperons’. During these years, Lex played regular gigs alongside Lulu and the Luvvers, The Impacts with Sol Byron, The Sillouettes and many others.  Another of Lex's bands, The Kingpins (blues band), featured Onnie McIntyre of the Average White Band on Lead Guitar and also Lord (Archy) Kirkwood, former Lib Dem MP, on Bass Guitar. Many of Lex’s musician friends all grew up together in the East End including Jr Campbell and Pat Fairlie of Marmalade.

Lex has featured as front man in several bands, including  ‘Escorts’ and ‘Chaperons’ during the 60s and also a stint in the early 70s with country band ‘The Hayriders’.

Since those early days, Lex has appeared on many bills with top name acts such as Ronnie Hilton, Dave Berry, Marti Caine, Lulu, The Animals and others, as well as fronting two ‘Big Bands’ in the 70s and 80s. Lex is now a ‘very young’ 70-something but is still rocking and he is inviting any old friends or colleagues to contact him.

On the songwriting front, Lex has written many songs of different styles, including two songs for Ronnie Moore of The Drifters. He has also had some small TV parts in many programmes, including Emmerdale and Spender, as well as some advertising commercials.
